A. Welcome to the Washoe County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (WCARES) website. WCARES serves the regional Reno-Sparks-Incline Village area of Northern Nevada.

Our mission is to develop and maintain the leadership and organizational structure necessary to provide radio communications support to Emergency Management, Public Safety, and other public service agencies during emergencies or other times when normal communications systems are overloaded or have failed.
