Washoe County Amateur Radio Emergency Service serves the regional Reno-Sparks-Incline Village area of Northern Nevada.

The Amateur Radio Emergency Service® (ARES) consists of licensed amateurs who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment with their local ARES leadership for communications duty in the public service when disaster strikes.

Our mission is to develop and maintain the leadership and organizational structure necessary to provide radio communications support to Emergency Management, Public Safety, and other public service agencies during emergencies or other times when normal communications systems are overloaded or have failed.

Updated September Meeting Notice Due to scheduling impacts from Labor Day weekend, the Ham Swap, and the SNARS Pancake Breakfast, our September training will be provided in a non‑meeting format. We are issuing a micro‑training module this month to ensure everyone stays engaged and maintains operational readiness.

This short module offers a concise readiness refresher for all members, Support Volunteers and Guest. It includes a digital check‑in assignment. Please take a moment to review and complete it at your convenience. Thank you for your continued support and participation CLICK HERE FOR THE MICRO-TRAINING

We are planning to have one of our ECOMM vehicles or a small equipment booth at the Ham Swap, so stop by, say hello, and feel free to use some of the equipment as a practice test.

Our normal and regularly scheduled WC‑ARES Meetings and Training are held at the REOC, 5195 Spectrum Blvd., Reno, on the first Saturday of each month. The meeting begins at 10:00 AM.    Click for Google Map location

The Northwest Nevada District ARES Net is every Thursday @ 7:30pm on the SNARS linked system.
