This Skywarn net is an open net, everyone is welcome to participate. Come check-in and give your local weather report. This net is on the *SKY_GATE* EcoLink conference. Also, IRLP Ref. 9252. For more information go to http://norcalskywarn.org/
In the Reno and Sparks NV area. You can check-in on the KA7ZAU repeater system. 146.895 (-) PL tone 100. Anyone can use this repeater to check-in.
WC-ARES is a SKYWARN partner organization. WC-ARES activates a weather net for amateur radio operators to report severe weather to forecasters to improve warning and forecasts. Any weather activation will be done on the resource net repeater. 147.180 ( +) PL Tone 107.2.
The NCO will have the option to move to another repeater as needed.
The National Weather Service (NWS) encourages anyone with an interest in public service to join the SKYWARN® program. Please find more information about this program at https://www.weather.gov/skywarn/.
THE GOALS OF WC-ARES AMATEUR RADIO SKYWARN
Have a network of spotters in place to report activity and or severe weather.
To activate this network as needed per the NWS, ARES- EC or AEC
To coordinate reports from the spotters in a professional manner.
To relay the reports to the NWS in a timely manner.
Remember to always give the three most important parts of a report
TIME - Time of the occurrence.
EVENT - Event, Hell, Flooding, Funnel cloud, etc.
LOCATION - County, and the direction or distance from the nearest city.
