WC‑ARES Micro Training - September 2026
Digital Readiness & Operational Preparedness Module
Introduction
This micro‑training module provides a concise readiness refresher for all WC‑ARES members. Due to scheduling impacts from Labor Day weekend, the annual Ham Swap, and the SNARS Pancake Breakfast, this month’s training is delivered in a non‑meeting format to maintain operational continuity and ensure members remain deployment‑ready.
Radio Readiness Verification
Please complete the following equipment checks:
Programmed Channels Review : Confirm ARES repeaters, simplex channels, and local frequencies are correctly stored.
Battery Status Check : Verify handheld and go‑kit batteries are charged and holding proper voltage.
Antenna Inspection: Check for loose connectors, corrosion, or physical damage.
Tone Configuration Confirmation: Ensure PL/DCS tones match current repeater settings.
Digital Communications Readiness
Members should complete a brief digital practice to maintain emergency communications capability.
Winlink ICS‑213 Submission: Send a short ICS‑213 using any transport mode. Include location, equipment used, and signal quality.
Template Review: Confirm ICS‑213, ICS‑214, and check‑in templates are accessible and up to date.

Final Message
I’d like this to be a fun and simple task for everyone. If all else fails, just drop a quick Winlink check‑in anytime during September and use the subject line “September Micro‑Training Check‑In.” We’d love to see check‑ins from a wide variety of locations across the region.
Don’t forget, we’ll be monitoring 146.895, PL 100 (TAC‑4) during the Ham Swap operating hours for voice check‑ins as well.
WC‑ARES continues to stay active, visible, and ready. Thank you to all who participate and support our mission.
