Information has been received confirming that the permits have been issued. Nevada Energy should be installing a new meter and restoring the connection within the next few days.

Please excuse the wind noise in the recording — conditions on site made it unavoidable, but the video still clearly shows the critical areas we needed to document. The footage begins at the location where the main power enters the site and feeds underground to the adjacent building, then continues along the underground run leading into the Lower Peavine communications shelter. This provides a visual reference of the current condition of the power infrastructure following the fire.

As of 9/25/26, we are still waiting for power to be re‑established at the site. The power company has replaced the damaged poles leading up to the facility, but work remains on the power junction box and meter, which were heavily damaged.
Inside the site, several issues are being addressed:
Hardline is currently being stripped from the tower due to fire and heat damage.
Antenna condition remains uncertain — some may require full replacement.
Backup batteries will need to be replaced due to heat exposure and smoke contamination.
Smoke damage is present inside the building and will require cleanup and inspection.
A small team is preparing to continue work, including:
Removing the remaining damaged hardline
Upgrading the entry point where the hardline enters the building
Assessing antenna viability once access is fully restored

Once power is restored the team will begin the next phase of repairs, including feedline replacement, antenna testing, and equipment restoration. We will continue providing updates as progress is made.
Impact to Lower Peavine During the Hawk Fire
The onset of the Hawk Fire, the Lower Peavine communications site was the first major infrastructure location to be affected. The fire caused direct damage to the facility, resulting in multiple repeaters going off the air. The neighboring Sierra Electronics commercial site also sustained impacts, affecting several critical systems. As a result, multiple services experienced outages, including:
VHF analog
UHF analog
900 MHz systems
P25 digital
Fusion System.
These disruptions affected both amateur and commercial communications across the region. A dedicated team of amateur radio operators is already preparing to assess the site. It will take some time to replace damaged equipment, and install new feed lines. Their work will help restore coverage, improve reliability, and ensure systems return to full operational status as quickly as possible.
As of 8/26/26, we now have our first look at some of the damage caused by the Hawk Fire at the Lower Peavine Repeater site.

His work gives us our earliest visual confirmation of conditions at the site.The building itself suffered no damage due to the defensible space that was created last summer and the old fence removed,
I’ll share the pictures below so you can see the extent of the impact. Including the surrounding area near Sierra Electronics and the close‑up shots of the damaged power feed and underground feedline to our site.
Our plan is to begin repairs and attempt to bring the site back online over Labor Day weekend, provided that NV Energy has restored power to the building. We will continue to keep everyone updated as more information becomes available.
